Take A Break!


So, for the first time since I started this blog I have had not one, but TWO weeks away from posting anything!

I’m sure you were all worried what had happened to me….

Well fear not. I was simply … busy.

This last few weeks I have been not only PT-ing – training clients and creating programmes but I have also been prancing around pretending to be someone else.

For those of you that aren’t aware I am also an actor. I firstly trained in acting, and have experience in a variety of different performance styles. I developed my passion for health and fitness whilst at Drama school, when I myself got a personal trainer and decided I wanted to be greedy and have both careers.

I have been focusing on the health and fitness side of my career more so than the acting side for the past 6months or so, but I have started to throw myself back into the performance world again… as I can’t remove myself from that world for too long.

Duke Senior

The past three weeks I have had the pleasure of working on an alternative adaptation of a Shakespeare play with a wonderful company called The Cream-Faced Loons – a Manchester based Shakespeare company. I multi-roled as Phebe and Duke Senior in their production of As You Like It and I had a ball!

Doing both the play alongside my PT-ing was difficult I wont lie. I struggled with my time-management at times and therefor certain things, including my blog, had to take a backseat for a while.

And I am hear to tell you that this is ok!

You don’t have to feel like a failure if you cant do everything consistently all the time.

It’s ok to pop something back on the shelf whilst you focus elsewhere. Its also ok to just need a break.

After juggling a multitude of things for a while now, I’ve decided to book myself a little holiday to take a true break… and I feel great about it!!

Having some time away, some time to reflect, to relax and clear your mind, allows you to come back fresh and able to tackle things more efficiently and effectively. So schedule in a break!

Whether it’s a mini one, a break from just one thing in particular, or a full on holiday… TAKE A BREAK and don’t feel guilty about it!

I have had a great few weeks, yes maybe I needed to prepare myself more for the increase of different work but I can learn and grow from this experience for next time. I took a break from some things to focus on others and now I can open the draw again and refocus on the things in there.

Its good to be back 🙂

Remember you can do anything you want but you don’t have to do everything all at once.
